残像の痕跡

Traces of an Afterimage was a one-night exhibition of paintings by Hidetaro Thornhill.

The works began with images that feel familiar but unstable: remembered faces, passing figures, intimacy, distance, and moments that seem to resist being fully recognised. Across the exhibition, people gradually become less certain. Forms merge, surfaces fragment, and memory shifts from something personal into something incomplete.

Rather than describing disappearance directly, the paintings stay with what remains afterwards: a colour, a silhouette, a gesture, or the faint impression of someone who may no longer be there.

「残像の痕跡」は、髙石英太郎による一夜限りの絵画展示です。

本展の作品は、見覚えがあるのにどこか不安定なイメージから始まります。記憶の中の顔、すれ違う人物、親密さ、距離、そして完全には認識できない瞬間。展示を通して、人の姿は少しずつ曖昧になり、形は重なり、表面は崩れ、記憶は個人的なものから不完全な痕跡へと変化していきます。

本展は、消失そのものを描くのではなく、その後に残るものに目を向けています。色彩、輪郭、身振り、あるいはもうそこにいない誰かの、ごく微かな印象として。
